Bag-in-box inspection that keeps pace with production
Protect your brand and your production line – In high-speed web bag-in-box manufacturing, even a single undetected flaw can lead to costly downtime, scrap, or brand damage. Incorporating CRAVE’s bolt-on Webster™ Vision Inspection System provides real-time, inspection coverage designed to identify critical defects before they leave the line so quality issues never become operational crises.
Introducing the Webster Vision Inspection System
Built for consistency, not complexity
Webster offers flexible multi-camera configurations that match the scale and inspection needs of each application. Multiple cameras may be used to cover multi-lane processes, larger bag formats or distinct inspection zones. Different camera technologies are applied intentionally.
High-resolution 2D line scan vision handles most inspections, 2D area scan zooms in on specific areas or features located off centerline, and optional 3D line scan sensing provides depth, orientation or Z-axis verification.
Webster™ Vision Inspection System delivers real-time 100 percent inspection
This unique solution is designed to identify critical issues before they leave the line, preventing quality problems from becoming operational crises. This plug-and-play vision inspection system is purpose-built for high-speed web bag and box manufacturing. Using multi-camera, high-speed machine vision, it performs inspection of every bag at full line speed replacing manual sampling with consistent, repeatable inspection.
We integrate proven, high-performance components and CRAVE’s proprietary AutoBox™ controller software which unifies complex vision, controls, and data handling into a single turnkey platform. This results in a scalable inspection solution that delivers reliable results without the risk, cost, or uncertainty of custom-from-scratch builds.

SHOWN: Creases running across seals that have a high potential for leaking.

SHOWN: Foreign objects located within bag. In this case, human hair in multiple locations.

SHOWN: Complex lot codes and SKUs are easily captured output to database server, external NAS etc.

SHOWN: Real-world gusset width measurements in mm plotted on trend charts

SHOWN: Good and Bad Fitment Concentricity Measurements

SHOWN: Using a 3D Linescan Camera, validate the spout is properly installed.
Coverage that enables control – Delivers continuous inspection across multiple critical categories:
- Dimensional accuracy
- Defect detection (punctures, material flaws, FOD)
- Seal and fitment validation
- Barcode and text verification
Inspecting every bag offers immediate action, whether correcting upstream process drift or removing an isolated nonconforming product. Inspection data can be logged and retained, providing traceability and documented proof of quality after the bag leaves the line.
Maintaining quality at speed is increasingly difficult
| Feature | Manual Inspection (The Bottleneck) | Automated Inspection (The Pace-Setter) |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Restricted to human eye velocity | Matches 100% of your line's rated speed |
| Consistency | Declines after 2 hours (fatigue) | 100% accuracy, 24 hours a day |
| Changeovers | Slow resets between web bag/box | Recipe-based adaptation |
| Data | Subjective and hard to track | Automated reporting for every defect |
Labor Cost for Manual Inspection
Designed to integrate, engineered to perform
Webster will integrate directly into existing manufacturing equipment, both mechanically and at the controls level. The system bolts to host machine and communicates natively with OEM controls providing real-time status, fault reporting, and coordinated response. Detecting recurring defects or upstream process drift can trigger alarms, signal machine faults or stop the line, preventing thousands of feet of material from being wasted. Backed by CRAVE’s ProQ methodology, Webster performs reliably, shift after shift without disrupting operations.
